Web Request Guidelines

Please be sure to send ALL web related requests to engineeringweb@ucdavis.edu.

Because this is a mailing list, messages with a paragraph starting with certain keywords will not go through. Try to start all requests with "Hi" or some other word instead. Keywords: add, afd, approve, archive, configuration, delete, discard, edit, fax, free, fui, get, global, help, hold, index, information, initialize, join, listproc, lists, live, lock, new-list, purge, purge, put, query, quiet, recipients, release, reports, review, run, search, set, set, signoff, statistics, subscribe, system, unlock, unsubscribe, version, view, which.

Time sensitive requests will usually be done the day sent or early the next. All other items will usually be completed within 5 days.

When you are requesting a change to a web page on the College web site, whether it be a change in the content, adding a document (Word document or pdf for example) or deleting content, here are some guidelines for making the request that will allow us to process it more quickly.

Please copy the url/address of the page you want updated.

Example - Please add/remove "xyz" from the page: http://engineering.ucdavis.edu/pages/students/students.html

If a page is to be created, please give us the url/address of the page that it should be linked from and the location & text of the link.

Example - On page: http://engineering.ucdavis.edu/pages/staff/staff.html please add a link called "XYZ" under the link to "Dean's Staff." I've attached the content for the new "XYZ" page.

When attaching files for posting, be sure to tell us which files should be posted where, including under what heading each file should be put.

Example - On this page:
http://engineering.ucdavis.edu/pages/staff/staff.html please put filename.doc under the heading "XYZ" and filename.pdf under "ABC" for people to download.

The clearer the request, the more likely it will be done quickly and correctly the first time. Feel free to ask us for suggestions if you're not sure where something should go.

Information to be posted for the web should be formatted as you want it to appear. It will be copied (typos and all) into a webpage and reformatted as closely as possibly to your format.
