Engineering Web Design and Maintenance Services
Web Design and Maintenance Services
The College of Engineering provides web design services through the Engineering Academic Computing Services (EACS) unit. These services are available to the College of Engineering community (depatments, research units, labs, and faculty). We no longer offer our services to the general campus.
Services
Site Design. We provide site creation, redesign, and maintenance services. We also design logos to help units establish a graphic identity, both on the web and in print.
Our web sites are template driven, providing for ease of maintenance and modification. We specialize in creating sites that not only meet current HTML and CSS standards but that also adhere to accessibility standards for the disabled. Our designs meet or exceed Federal Rehabilitation Act Section 508 standards. We can also create sites that meet any or all levels of Worldwide Web Consortium accessibility guidelines (Web Accessibility Initiative Priorities A, AA, AAA). Adherence to HTML, CSS and accessibility standards are verified through various validation tools.
Site Maintenance
Once we have completed a design, we can offer on-going maintenance of your site. This ensures that it continues to meet HTML, CSS and accessibility standards. Clients email us content changes or requests for additional pages. Since our sites are designed using templates and adhere to standards, we are able to make most changes within a few hours after receipt of the change/update request (faster if there is a pressing need).
Cost
Our services are available to College departments at no charge. There is a fee for design and maintenance services for faculty, research and laboratory sites. Our basic hourly rate is $36 as established by the campus rate committee. For site and logo design, we usually work with prospective clients to establish a per job cost. The estimate is based on the time we estimate it will take us to complete a given project multiplied by our basic hourly rate. For site maintenance, we either negotiate a monthly fee based on the anticipated amount of changes and additions for the site or we can work on a hourly rate. All estimates of work are provided without charge. We will meet with prospective clients, discuss their needs and provide a proposal for the work to be accomplished and the anticipated cost.
